Pure Sensation Tops Competitive Duo for Christophe Clement in Turf Sprint
On Saturday at Gulfstream Park, the stakes action will continue with the $150,000 Sunshine Millions Turf Sprint. Restricted to horses bred in Florida, the race will be held at five furlongs on the turf and has drawn a field of eleven with one additional entered for the main track only.
Pure Sensation has been tabbed as the morning line favorite in the wide open field at odds of 5-2 and is one of two horses for trainer Christophe Clement. A five-year-old son of Zensational bred and owned by Patricia Generazio, the gray gelding has been on the board in ten of his fourteen starts and is a four-time winner. He won the Turf Monster Handicap (G3) at Parx prior to finishing eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) in his most recent start. John Velazquez will be aboard and they will break from post five.
Summation Time trying to rebound
Second choice at morning line odds of 3-1 is Summation Time, the other contender from the Clement barn. A five-year-old son of In Summation, he has been on the board in seven of his ten starts and will be trying to earn his fourth career victory and first black type win. He was ninth in the Kennedy Road Stakes (G2) last time out and will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard from post position two.
Katie's Kiss taking on the boys
Also in the field at morning line odds of 10-1 is Katie’s Kiss, the lone filly in the field taking on male rivals for trainer David Fawkes. A four-year-old daughter of Kantharos, she has won four of her fourteen starts and is trying to earn her second career stakes win. She has been second in her last two starts, most recently the Lightning City Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. Javier Castellano will be aboard from post four.
