$200,000 More Than Ready Mile Draws Field of Nine
With large purses up for grabs, the Saturday card at Kentucky Downs has drawn some of the top horses and jockeys from around the country. The start of their stakes races on the day is the $200,000 More Than Ready Mile which will be contested at one mile on the turf.
Headlining the field of nine at morning line odds of 2-1 is Guys Reward from post three for trainer Dale Romans. The seven-year-old son of Grand Reward will have Corey Lanerie in the irons as he goes for his third win of the year. A multiple graded stakes winner, he returned in 2014 after missing the majority of the 2013 season, only making two starts. He has won nine races over the course of his career and was last seen finishing fourth in the Cliff Hanger (G3).
Former Breeders' Cup champ Regally Ready looms large
Second choice on the morning line at odds of 5-2 is Regally Ready with Rosie Napravnik aboard. A son of More Than Ready, the horse for whom the race was named, the seven-year-old gelding has earned nearly $1.5 million with fourteen career victories to his credit. Trained by Steve Asmussen, the marquee victory of his career was a triumph in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint (G1) in 2011. The multiple Grade 1 winner is going for his fifth win of the year and will break from post four.
Power Foot trying for first stakes win
Also in the field and breaking from the inside at odds of 9-2 is Power Foot. The five-year-old gelding, a son of Powerscourt (GB), will be making his first start for trainer Neil Drysdale. Rafael Bejarano will be aboard and the gelding will be attempting to earn the first stakes win of his career. He has won three of his sixteen starts and was last seen finishing seventh against allowance company at Santa Anita and has been off the board in his last two starts.
